The design of an office plays an integral role in the success of a company. A well-designed office might be a bit costly but offers you the value for your money. A poorly designed and non-functioning office causes frustration and wastes time because it may hinder even basic tasks. A superior design can open up new communication lines, give employees different environments for accomplishing different tasks, and make them excited to be in the office. Here are some expert office design tips that can help to invigorate your workforce.

Offer more light and space

Natural light is often overlooked in office design, but lack of natural light may have negative effects on productivity and mood. Therefore, it should be a major part of office design. To increase the amount of natural light in an office, make the environment more open by using glass walls, demolishing interior walls and using benching desks rather than restricted workstations.

Give your staff enough circulation space; the space between desks that allow people to freely move around. A constricted office space that makes people bump into each other any time they walk can be very frustrating

Breakout spaces would be great

Breakout spaces are not only meant for employees to take lunch but they also provide a suitable place away from the working desks to have some informal chats or just change scenery. Such spaces reduce communication barriers and encourage exchange of ideas in the office. Great ideas can emerge from casual lounge areas in the office.

Clear clutter

If you have a small office, it is important to ensure that everything works well because it’s out in the open than a large office. Keep your workplace tidy, organized and free of clutter. One of way of keeping the office tidy is to enforce a 'no-eating at desk’ policy to keep rubbish and food in its proper place. You can also ban bins at workstations to avoid the potential accumulation of rubbish at desks.

When planning out your office space, ensure you add a storage unit. There are a wide variety of great storage solutions to choose from, such as half-height roller racking which uses less space and allow light through it.

Buy good furniture

Workers often spend most of their time sitting in the office chair and hence it is important to invest in a comfy chair that would make them concentrate more on their job. Cheap chairs are often associated with discomfort and low back pain, thereby leading to more complaints and absenteeism. On the same note, invest in a nice movable monitor arm that allow you adjust the monitor at a suitable eye level to prevent neck pain. Look for a desk with systems for getting rid of irritating 'cable spaghetti’ underfoot.”

Brand your office

The appearance and décor of your office can give it a corporate identity. When designing your office, inject your company’s slogans, philosophy, attitude, logos, products and color scheme into the environment to showcase your company’s corporate identity. Moreover, they will make the office more attractive.
