As you already know, since you’re here, we have launched our new website. It’s taken a while and a lot of manpower, but after all the heartache, it’s wonderful to have so many positive comments. We really appreciate everyone who’s taken the time to let us know how much you like (or don’t like) the site. We’ve already had suggestions, after just one day! Give us a little time, and we’ll be looking into each and every suggestion and problem. I wanted to point a few of the new features we have available. If you’re reading this, you’ve found our blogging feature. Now, anyone in the community can register and blog, add events to our community calendar (which shows up throughout the site), and post photos. We’re excited to have you try out the Community features. Look for contests in the future (hint hint). Our homepage has been updated as well. We still have our featured stories, as we did before, but now we can have multiple ones, letting you know what news stories have been the biggest in recent days. Don’t forget to check out the “Top News” under the “Featured Posts.” This section has all of our front page stories from the print edition of the Great Bend Tribune. If you see the little green “GB” logo next to a story, it means that that story is a subscriber exclusive. Only print and online subscribers can read the full story attached to that story – much the same as it was with the old site. We will still offer two free news stories and two free sports stories a day, but we’ll offer more than we’ve ever offered to our subscribers. You can now have access to all the news in the regular paper - online. The download of the paper is still available. If you’re a subscriber, you can access it by clicking “eTribune” in the red navigation bar or in the Subscriber Exclusive list. Click on the day you want, and it will open up a digital copy of the print edition of the Great Bend Tribune. I’ll keep blogging about features, so be sure to look for more about the website! Thanks again for all of the feedback!
Today, I'll be writing about our events and gallery features of our Community section. Events are what they sound like. Anyone that is a registered user on the site can post an event that you want people to know about. This can be school events, concerts, sporting events, church fundraisers, anything. The ...
